VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: MOTORCYCLES. THE SEAT BACKREST CAN BE ADJUSTED TO TWO POSITIONS, HORIZONTAL OR VERTICAL. IN THE HORIZONTAL POSITION, THE BACKREST ACTS AS A SEAT CUSHION FOR A REAR PASSENGER. IN THE VERTICAL POSITION, IT IS USED AS A BACKREST FOR THE DRIVER. IT IS POSSIBLE FOR THE LEAF SPRING MOUNTING BRACKET, IF OVERLOADED WITH THE BACKREST IN THE VERTICAL POSITION, TO CRACK OR BREAK. Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE BACKREST WITH ONE CONTAINING THE ORIGINAL-DESIGN MOUNTING BRACKET.
We checked Transport Canada's recall database for this make, model and year.

On certain motorcycles, the crimp-type hose clamps along the fuel line may not have been installed properly and could leak. Fuel leakage in the presence of an ignition source could result in a fire. Correction: Dealer will inspect, and if necessary, adjust all crimp-type hose clamps.
On certain motorcycles, the backrest leaf spring mounting bracket, if overloaded with the backrest in the vertical position, to crack or break. If the bracket were to break, the backrest would detach from its mount. This is due to the use of square mounting holes and pressed in nuts. The square hole design results in an increased notch effect at the corners of the holes, which can lead to breakage of the bracket if it is overloaded. Correction: Backrest will be replaced with one containing a mounting bracket with round holes.
