On certain motorcycle, the rear suspension drag link assembly may fail, allowing the rear suspension to disconnect from the swing arm. Should this occur, the motorcycle will drop down causing contact between the rear tire and the underside of the rear mudguard. This could cause a loss of vehicle control and a crash causing property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will replace the drag link with an updated version.
On certain motorcycles equipped with the optional accessory luggage rack system, the slide carriage (part of the rear rack assembly) may not offer the required amount of lateral movement, resulting in reduced stability under certain conditions. Loss of vehicle control would increase the risk of a crash, resulting in personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will inspect the rack system for lateral movement. Those racks not displaying any movement will be repaired.
On certain motorcycles, a bolt attaching the drag link to the drop link may fracture. This would allow the rear suspension to drop causing the underside of the mudguard to contact the tire. As a result, the rider may lose control of the motorcycle, causing a crash with injury or death. Correction: Dealers will install a longer drag link bearing sleeve with higher grade hardware.
