CERTAIN MOTOR HOMES FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 108, "LAMPS REFLECTIVE DEVICES, AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT." THESE MOTOR HOMES WERE BUILT WITHOUT THE RED REAR REFLEX REFLECTORS AND SOME MOTOR HOMES WERE BUILT WITHOUT THE SIDE REAR RED REFLEX REFLECTORS. Remedy: DAMON WILL PROVIDE THE OWNERS WITH A KIT CONTAINING THE MISSING REFLECTORS AND INSTRUCTIONS FOR APPLYING THEM TO THEIR VEHICLE. OWNERS MAY CHOOSE TO HAVE THEIR DEALERS DO THE REPAIR FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JULY 9, 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT DAMON AT 1-800-860-3812.
DAMON IS RECALLING 738 MY 2005-2007 ASTORIA, TUSCANY, MY 2005 ASTORIA WALDORF, AND MY 2006-2007 ASTORIA PACIFIC MOTOR HOMES BUILT ON FREIGHTLINER XC CHASSIS. THE CHASSIS CONTAINS STEERING FILTERS THAT CAN PLUG DUE TO FAILURE OF THE SCREEN ADHESION TO THE FILTER HOUSING CAUSING A RISE IN RETURN LINE PRESSURE POTENTIALLY LEADING TO A HOSE SEPARATION FROM THE FILTER OR STEERING GEAR FITTING RESULTING IN A SUDDEN LOSS OF STEERING FLUID AND POWER ASSIST. Remedy: FREIGHTLINER IS CONDUCTING THIS RECALL AND WILL REPLACE THE AFFECTED FILTERS WITH A LARGER FILTER (PLEASE SEE 07V570). OWNERS MAY CONTACT FREIGHTLINER AT 1-800-547-0712 OR DAMON AT 1-800-860-3812.

Certain refrigerators used in Recreational Vehicles (RVs) contain either a sensing algorithm or a thermal switch to interrupt power when it detects high temperatures that could lead to a fire. An insufficient response time can result in the power not being shut-off in sufficient time to prevent a fire, which could result in property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will install a thermocouple with a faster response time for all refrigerators with a sensing algorithm or a thermal switch.
On certain vehicles, the inline power steering filter can plug, causing a rise in return line pressure, which can lead to possible hose separation from the filter or steering gear fitting. This would result in a sudden loss of steering fluid and power assist. Loss of power assist function could result in a vehicle crash causing injury or death. Correction: Dealers will replace the power steering filter with a larger version.
Certain motorhomes fail to comply with the requirements of CMVSS 108 - Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment. The rear reflex reflector (red) and the intermediate reflex reflector (amber) were omitted during vehicle assembly. Inadequate reflex reflection would reduce the vehicle's visibility during night driving conditions, which could cause a crash. Correction: Reflectors with permanent adhesive backing will be mailed to owners along with installation instructions. In the event the owner does not feel comfortable installing the reflectors, they will be instructed to take their vehicle to the nearest Damon dealer to have the repair done free of charge.
