On certain trucks, one or more fuel pipes may crack due to an improper pipe manufacturing process. In addition, the fuel pipe flare nuts may have been insufficiently tightened. Repeated normal high fuel injection pressure application may crack the pipe, causing a fuel leak. Leaking fuel could come in contact with high temperature components and catch fire, causing possible injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect and replace high pressure fuel pipes showing evidence of improper manufacture.
On certain trucks, the rubber cushions - which fasten the air intake duct to the rear of the cab - may fail. This could allow the air intake duct to detach during vehicle operation. An errant intake duct could strike a vehicle, property, or a bystander, which could result in property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will replace the air intake duct rubber cushions.
On certain vehicles, the brake vacuum hose may have been manufactured with insufficient wall thickness, allowing the hose to collapse during normal vehicle operation. If this happens, brake power assist could become inoperative, leading to increased vehicle stopping distance. Note: on the FE84D and FG84D models, the hose provides vacuum to the brake booster. On the FE85D, the hose provides vacuum to the exhaust brake system. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if required, replace the vacuum hose.
