On certain motorcycles, terminal nuts for the 40-amp main circuit breaker may have been improperly torqued during manufacturing process. If poor terminal connection were to exist, the motorcycle might exhibit a misfire or the engine may die unexpectedly. It could also cause loss of battery voltage at the ECM and other electrically controlled components. Engine stalling would result in lost propulsion which, in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the driver's reactions, could increase the risk of a crash. Correction: Dealers will inspect and torque the terminal lug nuts at the 40-amp circuit breaker and will download new programming into the ECM.
On certain motorcycles, a defect within the ignition switch assembly may cause an unexpected loss of electrical power to the Engine Control Module (ECM) and other electrically controlled components. This could cause the engine to stall which, in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the rider's reactions, could increase the risk of a crash. Correction: Dealers will repair the ignition switch assembly.
On certain motorcycles, a circuit board within the voltage regulator/rectifier assembly may have been incorrectly soldered during manufacturing process. The improper soldering can cause an internal short which will illuminate the check engine light. If there is a loose battery connection along with the defective regulator, the Power-Train Control Module may inaccurately process the various engine control inputs. This could lead to an engine stall condition which, in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the rider's reactions, could increase the risk of a crash. Correction: Dealers will replace the voltage regulator/rectifier assembly.
