Keystone RV Company (Keystone) is recalling various 2003-2018 Crossroads, Dutchmen, and Keystone recreational trailers equipped with Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers. A list of the affected trailer models is available at: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17V755-5127.pdf. These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or excessive force may be needed to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. For a full list of the affected fire extinguisher models visit: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17E062-5427.pdf Remedy: Keystone will notify owners and instruct them to contact Kidde for a replacement fire extinguisher, free of charge. DUTCHMEN IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2011-2012 RUBICON TRAVEL TRAILERS MANUFACTURED FROM DECEMBER 8, 2010, THROUGH JULY 15, 2011. THESE VEHICLES MAY HAVE BEEN MANUFACTURED WITH THE EXTERIOR FURNACE VENT NOT INSTALLED IN THE SIDEWALL OF THE TRAILER. THE FURNACE CAN RUN WITHOUT THE PROPER EXHAUST VENTILATION AND RELEASE CARBON MONOXIDE TO THE INTERIOR OF THE UNIT. Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE TRAILER TO VERIFY THE FURNACE EXHAUST IS PRESENT AND INSTALL ONE IF NECESSARY FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON AUGUST 26, 2011. DUTCHMEN IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2011 RUBICON AND VOLTAGE RECREATIONAL VEHICLES MANUFACTURED BETWEEN AUGUST 16, 2010, THROUGH DECEMBER 23, 2011. THE FUEL SHUT-OFF TIMER MODULES ARE DEFECTIVE. THE MODULE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE PROGRAMMED WITH A 5 MINUTE SHUT-OFF FEATURE, WHICH AUTOMATICALLY SHUTS OFF THE FUEL PUMP AFTER 5 MINUTES OF NO ACTIVITY. THE DEFECTIVE MODULES DO NOT HAVE THIS AUTOMATIC SHUT-OFF FEATURE PROGRAMMED INTO THEM. THIS ALLOWS THE FUEL PUMP TO CONTINUOUSLY RUN IF NOT SHUT OFF IN THE INITIAL 5 MINUTE PERIOD, CAUSING IT TO OVERHEAT AND FAIL. Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE FUEL SHUT-OFF TIMER MODULES FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON JANUARY 17, 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT DUTCHMEN AT 574-537-0700.

On certain vehicles equipped with Kidde fire extinguishers with black plastic handles and valves, the fire extinguishers may become clogged or require excessive force to activate. Also, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury, and fail to discharge. In case of fire, failure of the extinguisher to function could result in injury and/or property damage. Correction: Owners will be provided with instructions on how to inspect the fire extinguisher to see if it is recalled. Replacement fire extinguishers will be supplied by Kidde directly. Note: For more information about recalled fire extinguishers, please visit www.kidde.com.
On certain Rubicon toy hauler trailers, the furnace exhaust vent may not have been installed during vehicle assembly. If the furnace is operated without exhaust ventilation, carbon monoxide will vent inside the trailer, which could result in asphyxiation or carbon monoxide poisoning. The heat build-up from the exhaust can also result in a fire causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will inspect to ensure the furnace exhaust vent is present and correctly installed. If the vent was omitted, it will be added.
Certain travel trailers were equipped with a defective fuel shut-off timer module for the fuel dispensing system. This module was supposed to be programmed with a 5 minute shut-off feature, which automatically shuts off the fuel pump after 5 minutes of no activity. The defective modules do not have this automatic shut-off feature programmed into them. This allows the fuel pump to continuously run if not shut off in the initial 5 minute period, causing it to overheat and fail. Overheating of the fuel pump could result in a fire causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will replace the fuel shut-off timer module.
