Honda is recalling certain model year 2013 CB500 (FA, F, XA, X) and CBR500 (RA, R) motorcycles. The rocker arm shaft retaining bolts may have been manufactured incorrectly resulting in the bolts loosening during engine operation. A loose bolt will initially result in a slow leak of engine oil, but if not addressed, the bolt can come out of the cylinder head entirely. Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the rocker arm shaft retaining bolts, free of charge. The recall began on March 11, 2014. Owners may contact Honda Customer Service at 1-866-784-1870.

On certain motorcycles, the fuel level sensor float arm holder could deform and allow the arm to separate from the fuel level sensor body. If the float arm separates from the sensor body, the fuel meter would provide inaccurate information. In some cases the separated metal float arm could contact both the positive and negative terminals at the base of the fuel pump, causing a short that results in a blown (fuel injection, ignition or main) fuse. Either symptom could result in an engine stall, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will replace the fuel level sensor assembly.
On certain motorcycles, the rocker arm shaft retaining bolt could loosen, causing an oil leak. If the bolt was to separate completely, the engine could stall or lose power. This could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will replace the rocker arm shaft retaining bolt.

In the ABS (Antilock Braking System) modulator, excessive grease was applied to the O-ring of the reservoir piston due to improper management of the equipment for applying grease to components. During continued use in this condition, foreign matter adheres to the grease that has moved to the out valve, and it may become pinched in the check valve during braking, causing input pressure leak, and increasing the braking distance. Production dates not stated in the alert. Types: CBR500RA - e13*168/2013*00507*00, CB500FA - e13*168/2013*00508*00, CB500XA - e13*168/2013*00523*00.
