Issue: On certain vehicles, the plastic panel located between the windshield and the panoramic sunroof may not have been attached correctly during a prior service repair. Over time, the panel could loosen and separate from the vehicle. Note: This is an expansion of Transport Canada recall 2021-170. Safety Risk: A panel that detaches from a moving vehicle could create a road hazard for others and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the front roof panel.
Issue: On certain vehicles, the power steering control unit may corrode. If this happens, moisture could enter the control unit and cause it to fail. This could cause a loss of power steering assist. Note: This is an expansion of Mercedes-Benz recall 4694202 (Transport Canada Recall No. 2020-617). This recall only affects vehicles that were originally sold or ever registered in areas of heavy road salt usage (Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland & Labrador). Safety Risk: A loss of power steering assist would result in a sudden increase in steering effort, especially at low vehicle speeds. This could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the power steering control unit.

The polycarbonate roof panel located between the windscreen and the panoramic roof may not have been bonded correctly to the vehicle during a prior repair. In such cases, the adhesive bonding could gradually deteriorate and the panel could become detached from the vehicle, posing a risk to other road users. A trapped particle may damage the sealing between the fuel rail and fuel injector, which could cause fuel to leak into the engine compartment. Consequently, leaking fuel may come into contact with hot parts of the engine, increasing the risk of fire. Production: 27.05.2016 - 24.08.2020. Types: Types: 245G, F2CLA, H1GLE, F2A, 197, 204, 204 K, 212, R1ES, R1EC, F2B, 204 X, R1ECLS, R1EAMG, 463 A; e1*2001/116*0470*16 - *23, e1*2007/46*1912*00 - *08, e1*2007/46*1885*00 - *11, e1*2007/46*1829*00 - *12, e1*2007/46*0233*11 - *20, e1*2007/116*0431*39 - *61; e1*2007/116*0457*38 - *51, e1*2007/116*0501*39 - *47, e1*2007/46*1560*09 - *20, e1*2007/46*1666*07 - *17, e1*2007/46*1909*01 - *08, e1*2007/116*0480*20 - *39; e1*2007/46*1818*00 - *10, e1*2007/46*1878*02 - *10, e1*2007/46*1830*00 - *06.

On certain vehicles, electrostatic discharge, when combined with a broken clock spring and insufficient grounding of the steering components, could lead to an inadvertent deployment of the driver's frontal airbag. Unintended airbag deployment, in a non-warranted (non-impact) situation, could startle the driver, which could result in a crash causing injury and/or property damage. In some instances, inadvertent deployment could cause minor injuries to vehicle occupants. Correction: Dealers will add sufficient grounding to the steering components. Note: A broken clock spring would result in a driver airbag warning message appearing in the instrument cluster, as well as a red airbag warning lamp illuminating.
On certain vehicles, the starting current limiter could be overloaded under certain conditions. In the event the starter is blocked, a very high electric current could flow through the starting current limiter during repeated engine starting attempts. The high electric draw could cause the starting current limiter to overheat causing the surrounding components to melt which would increase the risk of fire causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction : Dealers will install an additional fuse in the electrical line to the starter.
A bore hole in the universal joint on the steering shaft may have incorrect size. As a result, there could be play between the bearing fitted into the bore hole and the universal joint, which could cause the joint to become detached over time. This would impair the vehicle’s steerability, increasing the risk of an accident. Production: The affected vehicles were manufactured between 30 November 2016 and 14 July 2017.. Types: Types: 245 G, 245 G AMG; e1*2001/116*0470*16-18, e1*2007/46*1207*05-06.
