Thor Motor Coach (Thor) is recalling various 2003-2018 recreational vehicles, equipped with Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers. See a list of the affected trailer models at: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17V758-5764.pdf. These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or excessive force may be needed to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. For a full list of the affected fire extinguisher models visit: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17E062-5427.pdf Remedy: Thor will notify owners, instructing them to contact Kidde for a replacement fire extinguisher, free of charge. On certain motorhomes equipped with Kidde fire extinguishers with black plastic handles and valves, the fire extinguishers may become clogged or require excessive force to activate. Also, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury, and fail to discharge. In case of fire, failure of the extinguisher to function could result in injury and/or property damage. Correction: Owners will be provided with instructions on how to inspect the fire extinguisher to see if it is recalled. Replacement fire extinguishers will be supplied by Kidde directly. Certain motorhomes were built with a defective heater and air conditioning control head. If the controller was subjected to a spike in voltage, it could lock the heater and air conditioning control head in the position that it was set on at the time of the spike. This would not give the operator the ability to change the air flow to the defrost/defog setting. Without the ability to defrost/defog their windshield, visibility could be reduced, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will install an additional wiring harness that will prevent a voltage spike and voltage overload of the control head.
