Thor Motor Coach (Thor) is recalling various 2003-2018 recreational vehicles, equipped with Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers. See a list of the affected trailer models at: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17V758-5764.pdf. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. On certain motorhomes equipped with Kidde fire extinguishers with black plastic handles and valves, the fire extinguishers may become clogged or require excessive force to activate. Also, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury, and fail to discharge. In case of fire, failure of the extinguisher to function could result in injury and/or property damage. Correction: Owners will be provided with instructions on how to inspect the fire extinguisher to see if it is recalled. Replacement fire extinguishers will be supplied by Kidde directly. On certain motorhomes, the windshield wiper system may have been incorrectly installed and secured. This could result in the wiper system being loose, which could limit the driver’s visibility under certain conditions which may increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect the wiper system to verify that the original recall repair was completed correctly, and will repair as necessary. Note: This recall supersedes recalls 2017-078 and 2017-172. A portion of vehicles repaired under the previous recall will require re-inspection and repair.
