The ammonium nitrate propellant used in the airbag inflator may experience a material alteration over time due to degradation occurring after prolonged exposure to high absolute humidity, high temperatures and high-temperature cycling. In the event of an airbag being deployed, it may underinflate or the excessive internal pressure may cause the inflator body to rupture and metal fragments may pass through the cushion material causing injury to the occupants. Production: S-MAX: from 4 December 2014 to 28 February 2017; Galaxy: from 5 January 2006 and 31 July 2009 ; Mondeo: from 6 February 2007 and 28 February 2017. Types: Mondeo: e13*2001/116*0249*27, SMAX: e13*2001/116*0185*27, Galaxy: e13*2001/116*0185*02.
Potential leakage of battery acid around the battery negative terminal could cause the battery monitoring sensor to fail. Over time growth of copper sulphate may accumulate. This, in turn, could provide a conductive layer underneath the Battery Monitoring Sensor, creating a low resistance to ground. Production: The affected vehicles were manufactured between 13 February 2014 and 11 February 2019. Types: Type-approval numbers: e13*2001/116*0185*28 (SMAX), e13*2001/116*0185*31 (Galaxy), e13*2001/116*0249*27 (Mondeo).
