Issue: On certain vehicles, the plastic panel located between the windshield and the panoramic sunroof may not have been attached correctly during a prior service repair. Over time, the panel could loosen and separate from the vehicle. Note: This is an expansion of Transport Canada recall 2021-170. Safety Risk: A panel that detaches from a moving vehicle could create a road hazard for others and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the front roof panel.
Issue: On certain vehicles, a software problem could cause the rearview camera image not to appear on the central display. Canadian regulations require the rearview image to display when the transmission is shifted into reverse gear. Safety Risk: A rearview camera image that does not display could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and send a wireless over-the-air software update to each vehicle. If the update cannot be completed successfully, you will be notified to schedule an appointment to have the update performed by a dealer.

The polycarbonate roof panel located between the windscreen and the panoramic roof may not have been bonded correctly to the vehicle during a prior repair. In such cases, the adhesive bonding could gradually deteriorate and the panel could become detached from the vehicle, posing a risk to other road users. Issue: On certain vehicles, the power supply cable to the starter may have been attached incorrectly. As a result, the power cable could contact the starter housing. This can damage the cable, and could result in a short circuit. Safety Risk: A short circuit could cause the vehicle to stall and create the risk of a fire. Corrective Actions: Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to check the cable connections to the starter and correct them, if necessary.
Issue: On certain vehicles, there may be a problem with the front seat belt buckles. This could cause the seat belt warnings to turn on, even if the front seat belts are buckled. If the driver ignores these warnings, the PRE-SAFE and airbag systems may not function properly. Safety Risk: A seat belt pretensioner or airbag system that does not work properly in a crash could increase the risk of injury. Corrective Actions: Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to check the front seat belt buckles and replace them if necessary.
Certain AMG GLC 63 S vehicles may not comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 208 - Occupant Protection in Frontal Impacts. The airbag control unit software may not meet specifications, which could lead to delayed deployment of the passenger front airbag in certain crashes. This could increase the risk of injury to the front passenger. Correction: Dealers will update airbag control unit software.
On certain vehicles equipped with an Audio 20 head unit and automatic child seat recognition, the status of the passenger airbag may not be displayed correctly. For example, the display may indicate that an airbag is turned off when it is not. This could create a situation where a child or small-statured occupant is inadvertently placed in front of an active airbag. This could increase the risk of injury in a crash. Correction: Dealers will update the audio head unit software.
On certain vehicles, the seat belt latch plate in the second seating row outboard seats might retract into the area between the C-pillar paneling and the rear side paneling. This could hinder the access to the seat belt latch plate for the outboard seat occupants. If a rear seat passenger does not fasten the seat belt, the risk of injury in the event of a crash could increase. Correction: Dealers will add a buffer element to the C-pillar paneling. Note: This is an expansion of recall 2018-136.
Certain vehicles equipped with LED headlamps may not meet the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 108 - Lighting System and Retroreflective Devices. A production problem may cause the front turn signal lamps to produce pink or violet light, instead of amber, which is contrary to requirements of the standard. This could result in nearby road users being confused by the turn signal lamps flashing a different colour than normal, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect the colour of the front turn signals, and replace the LED module if necessary.
On certain vehicles, the panoramic sunroof frontal and side panels may not have been bonded properly and could separate from the vehicle. This could pose a risk to other road users, increasing the risk of injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect bonding and repair as necessary.
On certain vehicles, electrostatic discharge, when combined with a broken clock spring and insufficient grounding of the steering components, could lead to an inadvertent deployment of the driver's frontal airbag. Unintended airbag deployment, in a non-warranted (non-impact) situation, could startle the driver, which could result in a crash causing injury and/or property damage. In some instances, inadvertent deployment could cause minor injuries to vehicle occupants. Correction: Dealers will add sufficient grounding to the steering components. Note: A broken clock spring would result in a driver airbag warning message appearing in the instrument cluster, as well as a red airbag warning lamp illuminating.
