Issue: On certain trailers, the coupling plate and king pin assembly may become damaged under certain loading conditions. If this happens, the trailer could disengage from the tractor. Safety Risk: A trailer that disconnects from a tow-vehicle could create the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: ABS Remorques Inc. strongly recommends that you should immediately perform a visual inspection of the coupling plate, the king pin and their components on your trailer(s). If you find any damage during the inspection, you should stop using the trailer and contact the company. The company will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your trailer to an authorized ABS facility to replace the coupling plate.
Issue: On certain trailers equipped with a Dexter Smart-Steer 2.0 self-steering axle, the steer arm that attaches to the knuckle could break. If this happens, the steer arm could fall from the trailer. Safety Risk: Parts that fall from the trailer could create a road hazard for others and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Manac Inc. will notify owners by mail and instruct you to make arrangements with a Dexter authorized service facility to replace the steer arms on your trailer.
